How do residents of the exclusive Bay Collection spend the summer?  They gather on the patio with friends for a Saturday barbecue or swim in a back yard pool. Residents jog and walk their dogs on a quiet woodland trail that takes them to scenic Batiquitos Lagoon.  South Carlsbad State Beach is nearby for boogie boarding or a twilight picnic complete with a breathtaking sunset. At many houses in the Bay Collection you can sit out on the deck to watch as the sun sinks into the water.

For the kids, the nearby Dove Library has an amazing summer reading program. Middle school students volunteer serve as reading mentors , and kids who  report on their reading ten times receive a Borders gift certificate.   There are weekly events such as puppet and magic shows, and science demonstrations. A few blocks away at Batiquitos Lagoon kids can attend Club Pelican, an arts based summer camp sponsored by the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation and the Cultural Arts Office of the City of Carlsbad.  Down the road at South Carlsbad State Beach Surfin Fire, a camp staffed by local fire fighters, www.surfinfire.com and the San Diego Surf Academy, www.surfsdsa.com teach kids to surf.   There is also a junior lifeguards program at South Carlsbad State Beach.  Camp Hit it 2 Me Tennis Camp is held at nearby Poinsettia Park. Families in Carlsbad will also gather at Pointsettia Park on August 2nd from 5-10 pm to watch Shrek the Third at Carlsbad’s annual Family Movie Night. Head to Legoland and see their new musical adventure comedy “Journey to the Lost Temple”.  Opening August 11th, the Legoland Sea Life Aquarium, will also be a great way to spend the day with the kids.

Adults don’t have to miss out on the fun.  Several times during the summer nearby Pointsettia Park is rocked with the sounds of jazz for the Carlsbad TGIF Jazz Series.  Locals enjoy gourmet picnics and great music.  The Dove Library is also hosting a summer concert series and movie nights.  Find out more about these events at http://www.carlsbadca.gov/  Golfers can tee off just minutes from the Bay Collection at the elegant new Carlsbad Municipal golf course, The Crossings at Carlsbad www.thecrossingsatcarlsbad.com or at the Four Seasons Aviara Resort golf course , designed by Arnold Palmer. Summer is also a great time to visit the Four Seasons resort to sample their world class dining, or attend the Garden Tour and Tea in the resorts spectacular gardens.  Hop the nearby Coaster Commuter train and enjoy a carefree ride along the ocean before you take in a Padres game or enjoy fine dining in downtown San Diego.

The Fourth of July at the Bay Collection is a delightful holiday.  Neighborhood children parade through the streets with decorated wagons and bicycles in an annual Fourth of July parade.  The sweet smell of barbecue fills the air.  As twilight falls, residents can head to the Aviara Golf Course or nearby Legoland to watch spectacular fireworks displays.  From many decks and streets throughout the Bay Collection, you can watch the fireworks without ever leaving home.
